End of Financial Year 2017

Dear Supporter,

Did you know that in Australia 1 : 68 children have an Autism Spectrum condition and it is increasing? Australians with a disability experience significantly lower rates of labour participation than others. In 2012, 2.2 million Australians of working age (15-64) were living with disability. Of these, only 53% were engaged in the labour force. For Australians with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), however, the figures are even lower, with reports from the ABS indicating a 34% participation rate in 2009.

That’s why Asperger Services Australia exists. Parents saw the need of support services a long time ago.

Asperger Services Australia (ASA) prides itself being a volunteer organisation founded in 1994. ASA has become a cultural leader in the local community. Our stability results from the loyal dedication and hard work of many volunteers and from the many individuals, businesses who financially support what we do year after year.

With the great programs and a variety of family-orientated offerings at the Asperger Centre, we believe that we enhance the quality of life in the Asperger community, supporting and improving outcomes.

The end of the financial year is coming up fast and we write to ask you to support this valuable cause in a special way this year.

There is a call upon Asperger Services Australia to expand into new services such as hands-on support programs for parents and individuals.  In the last three years we saw a group of young high school students become young adults. The demand on our youth group program saw us exiting one group and take in a new group of high school students. Positive feedback from parents, teachers and youth has encouraged ASA to venture into establishing interest groups, such as The Lab (technology club), music and a craft group.

In combining our support services of over 22 years, will you support us with a financial gift? There is still time to donate for the end of the financial year. Remember that your gift over $2.00 is tax-deductible.

We are hoping to raise funds for program expansions for materials, internet, printing, and craft materials.

May we suggest for you and your colleagues to hold a fundraising Morning Tea at your work place, organise a fundraising run with your friends, or just give an individual donation. You have several options to donate: via our website http://www.asperger.asn.au, direct debit: see banking details below, or just give us a call with your credit card.

Thank you for helping us to advance and make a difference in the Asperger community!

Yours sincerely,

Stefanie Evans
