Oh, what a year it has been! From severe draught, huge bushfires, the fast-spreading Covid 19, lockdowns, working from home for a long period of time – some testing times. Some people coped well with the changes imposed and others not so well, but we got through it.
Asperger Services Australia implemented processes and changes to ensure the health and wellbeing of staff, volunteers, and families. We were able to provide continuation of supports for families, our peer groups and life skill programs. We saw innovation in our service delivery with the introduction of online technology to stay connected with our participants. The youth groups played games, held discussions, and laughed a lot. The adult group were hesitant at first to try the Zoom platform, but adjusted quickly, and for an hour our discussions were more focussed.
The staff and volunteers at Asperger Services Australia have done a lot of work behind the scenes in 2020 and are excited about the opportunities for 2021.
The Offices will be closed from 18 December 2020 to 4 January 2021 for a well-earned break. The youth groups will re-commence in Term 1 of 2021 and the adult group will have a social outing during January (date to be advised).
We would like to wish you all a peaceful Festive Season and a wonderful New Year.
