Supporting parents, carers, families and individuals with Asperger’s Syndrome to reach their individual potential to benefit society by full and effective acceptance, participation and inclusion in the community.

Why Aspergers Services?

In 1994 a small group of parents with children diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome formed a support group, as in those days, there was little information available about Asperger’s Syndrome. Over the years the group has researched, shared information with parents and educators, ran training courses, maintained support groups at various locations in the South East of Queensland along with awareness campaigns, and formed alliances with service providers.

The Asperger Centre in Virginia (Queensland) was established in 2012 due to ever increasing diagnosis of an Autism Spectrum condition. The Centre provides clinical and non-clinical services for its subscribers and the public including group for parents, youth, adults and a craft group. Two support hubs are currently maintained in other suburbs of Brisbane and during in 2018/19 further Remote Support Connect hubs will be established.

Although information has become much easier to obtain via the internet and social media, there is a greater need to help and support families and adults diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome

How do we help?

Asperger Services Australia Ltd is completely run by volunteers, mainly by parents and people with Asperger’s Syndrome.  People on the Spectrum have average to above average of intelligence and may have exceptional skills, but are often subjected to bullying at school and in the workplace, are misunderstood in the community due to lack of social and communication skills, which increases anxiety and depression.

We provide a range of support services and programs to enhance the quality of life for people on the Autism Spectrum.  The Centre gives this community a central point of connecting and belonging.

We believe that our services provide and enhance the quality of life for people on the Autism Spectrum.

Big thanks to Stef last night for the Xmas party attended by up to 20 people. Lots of food, drinks and snacks for all. Great cook.

Stef has always been there for everyone and again last night hardly ever stopped. There would not be an Aspergers Center without her, I'm sure everyone agrees. Thanks again Stef and look forward to seeing you again next year. That's a long time for an Aspie.

    Love and Hugs
